SocialRank is full of crap?

Despite submitting this site several times to SocialRank's Second Life community site and having quite a few posts in today's rankings, the site itself has yet to appear in its community page and receive an overall ranking.

I'm going to assume, based on this site's SL Topsites traffic patterns and the appearances in SocialRank's daily rankings that this is not due to an RSS feed as dry as a martini and comments quieter than Kermit the Frog without a hand up the large hole in his ass.

SocialRank's most recent blog post is called "Is anyone paying attention?"

My sentiments exactly.

Somebody, flip the switch already, okay? I wanna see a number in that pretty badge, and the smaller it is, the happier I'll be, eh.

Anybody else caught in SR Limbo?

shit, if I was a fount of witty I would have my own blog right?

There's always room in my comments for you... AND EVERYBODY!

yeah, I've submitted Mygdala.com a number of times and nothing yet. I think their algorithm is borked. Why is ESC up there twice? Definitely socialrank.isfullofcrap

They don't have an obvious feedback address up there.

I guess they're not about HEARING from the community. Just exploiting it for hits. Or measuring it for marketing data.

I wrote a quick post about my experience with them after seeing your post and they responded in the comments, you might find it interesting because of how weird their comment was.

The fact that they posted it anonymously maintains their keeping their contact address a guarded secret.

How SOCIAL of them.

Faerie:

This site is ranked number 21 right now. Maybe they were lagging?

That's for SLTopsites, Faerie, not SocialRank.

I have to figure that basically, the way this site works is, if you are girlfriends with the people who run it, you get to go up higher on it. Whenever I see what's on top, I'm baffled, as it doesn't seem either good, or mainstream/mass taste. I have no idea what is driving it except clicks or links or something from the girls...

And the odd thing is, I have no idea why my site, which is generally around the 30-36th ranking area, would sometimes shoot up to 18 or higher. Why? How? Over what? It's nothing I do -- as I didn't put the "badge" on my site and forget to even look at it for weeks on end.

And how to explain why the two different sites I have -- Second Thoughts and SL Record, where I have collaborators posting essays as well, would be so close to each other in rank, when their actual visitors and ranking on, say, Alexa are wildly different.

Comments are a huge factor.

You may notice I reply to each and every comment on the site.

It's no accident. I'm testing to see if this jacks a post up in the rankings.

I'd love to see how this affects overall site ranking, but as y'all have noticed, they won't list this site.

They don't have a feedback link, so I'm sticking by my "they don't give a shit about what the community thinks, they just want their data" attitude until they prove otherwise and actually respond to the community.

Gee, sound like any other community/system y'all know? j/k
